Crawlers (also known as web crawlers, spiders, or bots) are automated programs used by search engines and other services to discover, scan, and index content on the internet. Crawlers follow links from one page to another, collecting information about each page they visit, which is then stored in a database (often referred to as an index) for later retrieval by search engines.
