Indexing is the process by which search engines store and organize content from websites to make it searchable and retrievable for users. After a search engine’s crawler (like Googlebot) visits and crawls a webpage, it processes the page’s content (text, images, videos, links, etc.) and stores it in a large database known as the index. This index is used to quickly find relevant pages when a user submits a search query.
